HIMACHAL PRADESH TREK |

Nestled in the
north-west corner of India, Himachal
Pradesh is enveloped by the Himalayan
ranges. An entirely mountainous region
with altitudes ranging from 460 to 6,600
Mts. it has a deeply dissected
photography, a complex geological
structure and rich temperate flora in
sub-tropical altitudes. The Main
attractions of Himachal Pradesh also
include Shimla, once the 'summer
capital' of British India and now
capital of Hichal Pradesh; and the lush
green Kullu valley without doubt one of
the most beautiful place on earth with
the snow-capped Himalayan peaks as a
backdrop and the sparkling Beas River
running through it. Then there's
Dharamshala, home in exile for the Dalai
Lama, and to explore the Buddhist
culture of Lahaul & Spiti similar to
terrain of Zanskar & Ladakh and mixed
Buddhist-Hindu, villages of Kinnaur.
Trekking in Himachal Pradesh enjoys the

geographical terrain of the region
through it is also a suitable
destination for other adventures such as
Rock Climbing, Hang gliding, Skiing,

This most enchanting trek leads into one
of the numerous side valleys in the
Kullu - Manali area, and going through
spectacular landscape which ends in the
Lahaul valley. It is considered one of
the most beautiful treks around Manali
and can be done by anyone reasonably
fit. The countryside is liberally
endowed with forests of Walnut & Cedar,
while a few flower-strewn meadows
enhance the trail. Commening our trek
from Manali, the trail goes over Hamta
pass past small villages at Purni &
Sethan. The Panorama as viewed from the
top of the pass is enthralling and
inspiring, especially appearance of
Inderasan and Deo Tibba Peak. From the
pass we descends down to Chatru and walk
along the right bank of Chandra river to
Batal from where we walk along the river
opposite to Bara Shigri glacier. On
approach to Chandertal - considered to
be source of Chandera River, the
magnificent views of glacier & peaks of
Mulkila & C.B. ranges can be seen.
Crossing over Baralacha pass (4883 m)
and further descending along Bhaga
River, we arrive at Darcha and take our
prearranged transport to Manali. |

Boasting a great variety of landscapes
ranges from green meadows to arid pin
parbati valley, the challenging trek
offers a real challenge to the
enthusiastic trekkers. We travel
overland from Delhi via Chandigarh to
lush green valley of Kullu. Trekking up
through lush green meadows, stately
forests and narrow valleys accompanied
by the constant roar of the river
Parbati, we reach Khirganga, the place
where Lord Kartikya is supposed to
meditated and done penance. Walking over
the glacier for complete full day we
cross Pin Parvati Pass, where there is
startling change in the landscape, as we
enter the district of Spit, which lies
close to Tibetan border, and conclude
our trek at Dankar Monastery. In this
remote valley of Spiti there are number
of ancient monasteries, which are
dedicated to the pre - Buddhist Bon
religion. From here we take our
prearranged transport to Kaza - the head
quarters of Spiti valley. We spend full
day in Kaza visiting Ki Monastery &
Kibber village (4205 Mts.); the highest
inhabitant village in the world. Driving
out of Spiti valley via Kunzam pass
(4550 Mts.), we spend a day sight-seeing
in the attractive Manali town, before
returning to Delhi. The strength of this
exciting Adventure holiday is that it
packs so much variety into only two
weeks. |

This is an ambitious exploratory trek,
which traverses over glaciated Kangla
pass into
The Zanskar valley. This trip starts out
with a spectacular drive into semi and
Lahaul valley over Rohtang Pass.
Trekking up along the Mayar Nallah which
line our route through what is probably
the most beautiful alpine valley in
Himachal Pradesh, we reach Khanjar, a
last village of the valley where the
valley broadens with varieties of wild
flowers and meadows. After spending full
day acclimatization at Palphu we walk
for 3 day over glacier where crevasses
have to be crossed and camp near the
confluence of two streams on the other
side of the Kalinga Pass. There is the
startling change in the landscape, as we
enter the Zanskar valley. In this remote
valley of Zanskar, we visit number of
ancient monasteries, notably at Purni
called Phuktal Gompa, which are built on
to the sheer face of the rock. From here
we trek into the Lahaul valley over
Phistela pass and concludes our trek at
Keylong Sarai. Driving out of the Lahaul
valley, we spend a day sight-seeing in
the attractive Kullu down of Manali,
before returning to Delhi. |
